Post-pregnancy sun allergy
I gave birth to my daughter two months ago. Since then, my arms have come up in little bumps whenever I go out in the sun. I live in the South of France and don't want to aggrevate the problem, but I can't stay indoors all the time. My doctor has diagnosed me with a sun allergy, the result of hormonal changes during my pregnancy, but he has given me very little advice. I wear sun block when I am outside, but it does nothing to keep the bumps away. Is there anything you could recommend?
Well, you are proof that sun blocks do not provide complete protection. For the time being I can only recommend that you cover up. Pregnancy does increase photosensitivity, but its symptoms do lessen with time. Next summer the problem should have settled down, please be patient and do not worry.
