Smear Test and Chlamydia

Hello,
The nurse picked up a vaginal infection during a recent smear test.
I had sex on the Sunday and had the smear on the Tuesday evening.
Could this have had any effect on the results of my smear, or on the fact that she found an infection? Could there be something more serious behind it?

Having sex won't have any effect the result of a smear test.
Smear tests can't detect chlamydia either, what the nurse may have noticed would be an inflammation, cellular abnormality, mucus or protozoon.
Some germs, those which cause chlamydia among them, can only be found with a special examination or tests, so ask the nurse to put you down for more tests.
