The Wrong Foundation
Sabrina, 17: I have been wearing makeup for about 2 years now, using foundation and blusher every morning. The problem is that I am no good at it! By the time I leave home I look like I have piled too much on, and I am really orange, even though it is the right colour for me. Please could you recommend a foundation which will cover all my spots and imperfections without making me look like an orange freak...
You need to stop applying your makeup under an electric light for a start. Follow your usual routine in a room with good natural light - you will instantly see whether you are using too much or whether the colour is simply wrong for your skin. Application with a sponge will prevent you from using too much. For a good match, test foundation colours on the back of your hand. The colour you want is not only the one which best matches your hand, but it will often also be the palest. Using a powder will seal your foundation and automatically illuminate your face, guarding against orangeness. The brand that you choose is not important, although bear in mind that the more expensive makes should be of better quality. If you have problem skin, I would recommend Clinique, as they do a great line of concealers, as well as foundations and powders.
