
Stretching after sport
Doctor, What are the best stretches to do after sport, especially on the calves? I do aerobics and jog regularly for an hour at a time. Thanks.
Stretching is most effective when you stretch the muscle in the opposite direction to the way it contracted while you were training, ie touching your toes will stretch out the hamstrings, and holding your heel to your bottom will stretch out the fronts of your thighs. Lunges and toe-touching are best for calves.
