Porcelain Veneers
I am 20 and have slightly gappy teeth, which I hate. I know some people say it is lucky or sexy or whatever, but I have a complex about my smile. I know I don't need braces, or anything like that, but is there anything a dentist can do to get rid of my gap?
If you really do have a complex about your smile and believe that closing the gap will make you happier, then I suggest you consider cosmetic dentistry. The gap is small and your teeth are well aligned, so porcelain verneers (laminates) could be the answer - Talk to your dentist about the possibility. Laminates are made of wafer thin pieces of porcelain, which are bonded to the front of the tooth. By using these verneers on your two front teeth, the gap will be gone! Porcelain verneers are a quite a recent development in dentistry and are popular for several reasons: They are extremely strong and durable, much like your own tooth. They are transluscent, much like enamel, so they look totally natural. Plus porcelain does not stain. Laminates are often used for people in situations like yours, also for those teeth are stained, chipped or slightly misaligned.
