Alcohol and pregnancy.
Hello, I'm a month pregnant and have only just realised. I've had several nights out during which I drank a fair amount, enough to have a hangover the next day. Have I harmed my baby?
Alcohol is a poison, and especially toxic to babies and foetuses. Obviously, the most harmful situation is chronic alcoholism, ie somebody who drinks every day. The odd drink, especially a glass of red wine, is not harmful to your baby, or dangerous to you, but try to keep it to a minimum. It has not been shown to cause foetal deformations. Certainly don't drink to excess for the rest of your pregnancy.
