Is it true that you're more likely to have twins or more if multiple births run in the family?

Yes. Twins seem to run in families, especially on the mothers' side. There is also a high rate of multiple births associated with fertility treatment. Generally-speaking, older women are more likely to have twins, as are taller, bigger women.
