Dieting after giving birth and breast-feeding.

I had a baby just over a month ago and I would like to go on a diet to lose the weight I have put on over the last nine months (25kg). I've been told about a diet with protein drinks, what does this diet involve and would this be safe to do whilst breastfeeding? Thanks.

It's not impossible to start a diet whilst breastfeeding, but you should talk to your doctor first, or visit a dietician or nutritionist for advice. It is essential during breastfeeding to make sure that you are getting all the nutrients you need to properly nourish your baby, so make sure you don't become dehydrated, or develop vitamin or mineral deficiencies, especially calcium. Protein drinks are safe, but make sure you eat as well!
