Blackheads
What exactly are blackheads? How can I get rid of them?
Blackheads are caused by overactive sebacious glands. When the glands produce too much oil (sebum), the pores of your skin become stretched and clogged. The sebum forms a hard plug and because the pore is open, the oil oxidises, turning black. Whiteheads are formed the same way as blackheads, but that the pore is closed so the oil does not change colour . Once pores are blocked, the sebacious gland will become infected, causing acne. It is very important to keep your skin clean, especially if it is oily, as this tends to attract external pollutants. Do not squeeze your spots as you will spread infection and cause scarring. A beautician will remove your blackheads for you. If you would rather do it at home, then buy a blackhead remover, and steam your face prior to use. Applying fresh lemon juice to the area is also a known trick... do so 2-3 times per day.
