Whiteheads
Are whiteheads that different to blackheads?
Whiteheads, or milia, are created in the same way as blackheads. When a sebacious gland produces too much oil (sebum), the may pore become swollen and blocked. If the pore is open, the grease oxidises, turning black. But, if the pore is closed, it remains white... hence the term 'whitehead'. Milia tend to appear on thin, delicate skin areas: It is important never to try and squeeze them, as you will only break the skin, causing infection and scarring. Make sure you keep your skin clean, and exfoliate regularly... it is both the prevention and the cure. Drinking at least a litre of water per day will also help your body rid itself of impurities.
