Relationship status on social networking sites

There's nothing that kills a conversation more than someone saying “oh yeah, I read that on your Facebook page”. Status updates ruin the “how was your day?” chat straight away because your date will already know how your day was. That big news you have will be announced on Twitter the second you get it. They also see you at your grumpiest, your bitchiest and your downright rudest. You can argue that they shouldn't worry about getting to know the real you, but there's a time and place for that, and it's something that should happen gradually. Once you've let them into your online world, everything is very accelerated. The chances are, if you're not ready for your date to know everything about you, they're not ready to find out.
