How to tell your boyfriend he's got bad breath

We can't all have fresh breath every minute of the day, that only happens to the people in the toothpaste ads. But when your boyfriend starts telling you about his day at the office, and you find yourself overwhelmed by the odour coming out of his mouth, it's not good. It's a difficult subject to bring up, and even more diffcult when you're at the receiving end.
 

Best avoided
Don't try to get your message across by pulling faces or likewise, in an effort to spare him from hearing the truth. You could end up mimicking disgust and he could really fly off the handle.
 

Best way forward
"You're doing him a favour by pointing out this problem," says Philippe Geffroy. "Tell it like it is. You can start by telling him that if he ever notices that your breath isn't very fresh, you'd appreciate it if he told you. And that then allows you to point out that that's the case for him currently. "

"Be firm," adds Francis Cautain, "because he can easily sort this unplesant problem out and he has a duty to, out of respect for you and anyone else he's in close proximity to."
