Trends
There is no need to stress about sussing out which catwalk trends are most relevant this season or what are the key looks to focus on from the high street - we've done it for you! ISABELLE O'CARROLL delivers a sartorial summary on how to update your wardrobe for the season.
Blame economic uncertainty for this season's trends, as menswear reverts to the relative safety of classic, iconic looks. Flashiness and quirk has been reined in as designers go back to their roots and revisit what they do best. Masculinity was re-examined on the catwalks, taking inspiration from cowboys, dockers and even boxers in the case of Alexander McQueen's stunning 'Queensberry Rules' show.
Other designers who played with the traditional men's roles include Yohji Yamamoto who sent out cosy bearded types in suits, dressing gowns and pyjamas - which could be seen as a stylish way to do redundancy! Dries Van Noten, meanwhile, went all Hitchcock on us with '40s tailoring and infused everything with a movie-like stillness.
