Animals crop up frequently in dreams, normally representing instincts and gut feelings. They symbolise the life force, or energy we all need to function, without which we would be completely different people. Metaphorically speaking, they have a hoof in both the mineral and human worlds and to us, are a link into the plant world. They follow the laws of nature which are almost completely unknown to human beings, yet share certain characteristics with us, such as understanding and intuition. It is due to this special position between the human and mineral that we can learn plenty from the animal world.
