Young Apprentice 2012: The boardroom battle kicks off

For Apprentice fans who are missing their weekly dose of ridiculous boardroom behaviour - fear not because tonight sees the return of The Young Apprentice on BBC One.

Get ready for Lord Alan Sugar’s grumpy one-liners, Nick Hewer’s fantastic facial expressions and Karren Brady’s fabulously raised brow.

Obviously as they're mini-Apprentices they are less cutthroat and more cute than their adult counterparts, although that doesn’t mean they’re not an ambitious bunch.

The line-up for this year's series of the BBC's Young Apprentice includes a former head girl, a farmer's daughter, a female rugby player, a fashion designer, a choral scholar and a ukulele player.

Tasks in the series are set to include designing a cookbook, sourcing props for the English National Opera, branding a hair-styling product and selling goods at the Womad festival.

But before the twelve hopefuls are even able to get stuck into things, Lord Sugar warns them: “I don’t like teacher’s pets and I don’t like school bullies.

“This is about the real world. I’m not making you sit exams; the only grade you’ll get here is ‘F’ for Fired.”

The business tycoon will throw the wannabe-employees straight into the deep end -challenging them, scrutinising their behaviour and eventually hiring the one he deems to be most worthy of the title of Young Apprentice 2012.

The winner of the show will not only be given the opportunity to be mentored by the man himself, Lord Sugar, but will also win a potentially life-changing £25,000 fund to bankroll their business idea.

Let the games begin!

Young Apprentice starts tonight at 8pm on BBC One
