Amy Poehler announces separation from husband Will Arnett

Comedic stars Amy Poehler and Will Arnett have announced that they are separating after nine years of marriage.

The pair - who often cameo in each other’s work - married in 2003 and have two sons together, three-year-old Archie and two-year-old Abel.

The 40-year-old Saturday Night Live actress met Will before either of them shot to fame, but in recent years the couple have seen their profiles skyrocket as Will landed roles in popular US comedies 30 Rock and Arrested Development.

Amy, who is best friend’s with former SNL comedian Tina Fey, currently stars in Parks And Recreation.

As well as appearing in each other’s shows, they starred together in a number of films including Blades of Glory, Horton Hears a Who! and Monsters vs. Aliens.

The news of their split was confirmed to US Weekly and sources have said that the split is “very amicable”.

Amy previously admitted to USA Today: “People think we sit around and make each other laugh and stuff, but we're real homebodies.”

Despite the comedienne’s heartbreak she has plenty of work coming up to take her mind off of things.

As well as her Golden Globe nominated show Parks And Recreation, the actress has been busy shooting new film You Are Here alongside Zach Galifianakis and Owen Wilson.

She also just wrapped filming on They Came Together with Paul Rudd and A.C.O.D co-starring Jessica Alba and Jane Lynch, which will be out later this year.

Meanwhile Will is gearing up to star in the highly anticipated fourth season of Arrested Development as well as featuring in Lego: The Piece Of Resistance with Channing Tatum, Morgan Freeman and Elizabeth Banks.
