Pop princess Britney Spears
was apparently deeply unimpressed by an X Factor
contestant dressed up in drag who attempted to cover her 1999 hit song (You Drive Me) Crazy at the US X Factor auditions.
The offended 30-year-old judge reportedly walked off the set on Monday (09.07.12) during the hopeful’s performance in Greensboro, North Carolina, and joined her husband Jason Trawick in the production area.
Fellow panellists Demi Lovato
and L.A. Reid followed Britney offstage, and a lone Simon Cowell was the only judge left in his seat during the audition - although he was seen covering his face with his hands during the song.
Following the performance, straight-talking Simon told the hopeful: “I don't think she quite understood your tribute. You've got to be able to sing in tune. There wasn't a note in tune.”
But the show must go on, and Britney did eventually return to her seat on the judging panel alongside Simon.
She tactfully explained to her impersonator: “I really respect the tribute. It was really nice, but I just don't feel like it's for 'X Factor'. Sorry, sweetie.”
This isn’t the first time new judge Britney has stormed off the American version of Simon's talent show, as last month the pop singer and her fellow judges left their seats when a contestant refused to audition facing them!
