'The One Show' presenter Chris Evans has undergone an operation to remove growths in his colon, after a cancer scare. The presenter and BBC Radio 2 had a surgical procedure to get rid of "future little problems" which could have been caused by the growths, and has urged people to be extra vigilant if they are at risk of colon cancer. Writing on his BBC blog, he revealed: "So I came in, was taken down and went under. As far as the procedure went, it was lights, camera, action and on we go with the show. "A couple of pesky potential future little problems were discovered and swiftly removed, but other than that I'm afraid you're stuck with me for a few years longer at least. "And please, seriously if you or anyone you know may have any worries down below, get them checked out as soon as possible, because this type of enemy is one hundred percent beatable - providing you don't give it chance to fire the first shot." Chris has a family history of cancer, with his father dying of colon cancer when he was 13, but he has now happily been given the all clear, prompting him to hold a double celebration for both the success of the operation and the success of his book, 'Memoirs of a Fruitcake'. He wrote on twitter: "Celebrating book position and removal of nasty's earlier on today during colonoscopy. All clear here - minor celebration tonight me thinks. (sic)" |
