Inside Soap Awards 2012: EastEnders takes home seven gongsEastEnders was the big winner at last night's Inside Soap Awards.
The stars of British TV hit the red carpet at London's One Marlyebone to see the BBC show take home the prize for best soap. Furthermore, Gillian Wright - who plays Jean Slater - won best actress, while Hetti Bywater was awarded best newcomer for her role as Lucy Beale.
EastEnders' final award went to David Witts - Joey Branning - who was voted sexiest male.
Though the BBC One show won an impressive seven gongs, Coronation Street didn't leave empty handed.
Michelle Keegan, who plays Tina McIntyre, managed to retain her sexiest female title for the fourth year running.
She also won best-dressed soap star, while Alex Bain took away the best young actor prize for his role as Simon Barlow.Michelle couldn't make the event, but showed her appreciation on Twitter.
She wrote: "Thankyou sooooo much to everyone who voted for me at The Inside Soap Awards. I'm over the moon with the awards! The fact that people have gone out of their way 2 vote is unbelievable,I'm so grateful!!!
"Sorry I can't be there to pick them up. You've made a girl very happy! Xx "Wish I could thank every person who voted for me personally. Lots of love. xxx." Hollyoaks' Emmett J Scanlan was awarded the best actor and best bad boy gongs for his portrayl of Brendan Brady. Neighbours was voted best daytime soap and Ryan Moloney - better known as Toadie - was deemed best daytime star. Finally, Chelsee Healey's evening at the do was made worth it when Waterloo Road won best drama. |
