Gary Barlow feels "responsible" for the downfall of Frankie Cocozza, who was axed from 'The X Factor' on Tuesday (08.11.11). The Take That singer explained while the 18-year-old party-loving rocker had "wasted an opportunity" with his unruly behaviour, he wishes he could have stepped in and intervened. Gary told BANG Showbiz: "It's important to say that Frankie has been silly and he's wasted an opportunity, there's no question about that - but he's an 18-year-old boy. "I am the only judge on the panel with kids and I have to take responsibility for what happened with Frankie. He's got to live with this for the rest of his life and that's where I feel bad for him." While Gary accepts responsibility for Frankie's elimination from the series, he also blames 'X Factor' bosses for ramping up the teen's reputation as a bad guy, and co-judge Louis Walsh for the negative comments he made during last weekend's show. He added: "In our own ways, we all encouraged Frankie not only to be good, but to be bad as well. The show has enjoyed the publicity we've had from it, but it just went too far and too out of control for us to have him on the show any more. "I don't want to isolate it to an incident but I felt Louis' comments to Frankie on Saturday night weren't encouraging." This weekend's show will see either 2 Shoes, Amelia Lily, James Michael or Jonjo Kerr replace Frankie on 'The X Factor'. |
