And this afternoon they held a press conference to talk about their upcoming tour and greatest hits album, Ten.

Cheryl Cole, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding looked like the best of friends as they answered questions today, which is the 10-year anniversary of their first appearance on Popstars: The Rivals.

Cheryl said: "We're really excited. It feels like nothing has changed."

Cheryl wore a pair of black leather trousers and blue jacket for the event, while Kimberley Walsh showed off her toned tummy from her training on Strictly Come Dancing in a stunning Bill And Mar crop top and pencil skirt.

Nadine displayed her legs in a mini dress and Sarah covered up in a pair of animal print trousers.

Meanwhile, fashion fan Nicola kept it cool in a feather skirt and jumper, her hair tied in a topknot.

Nadine told the audience: "Coming back together is so exciting, there's something amazing about performing together. We've got all these great songs - we want to see how the fans react."

Nicola added: "We've got 10 songs on the greatest hits, with four having never been heard."

The girls insisted they hadn't yet decided whether they would stay together after this tour and album as they have so much preparation to do for the upcoming 12-date gig.

Their new single, Something New, will be released on 18th November and they will perform the track for the first time on Children In Need two days before.

The girls revealed they recorded the song back in April and May - and it doesn't sound like it was a simple process.

Nicola said: "We recorded the new single as a worldwide secret operation. I was writing melodies in London in the morning and sending them to Nadine to record in America in the afternoon."

During their hiatus, Nadine has moved to America, Sarah completed a successful stint in rehab, Kimberley has dabbled in TV presenting, Nicola has released a make-up range and Cheryl has had a hugely successful solo career.

Kimberley said: "Being back with Girls Aloud is like wearing a comfort blanket. It's our normal."

Cheryl added: "We've had highs and lows over the last 10 years but I wouldn't change a thing."

And Sarah concluded: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
