After 14 years and two children together, many were shocked and saddened to hear that
Johnny Depp and
Vanessa Paradis were separating.
Although publicly their reps said that the split was amicable, it has been reported that the couple called it a day after a series of “blazing arguments” which left the Hollywood actor “heartbroken.”
Vanessa, 39 - a former model and aspiring singer - is said to have struggled with Johnny’s skyrocketing career as her own projects stalled, reportedly blaming him for her inability to make it big outside of her native France.
A friend of 49-year-old Johnny’s claimed to UsMagazine.com: “They'd have blazing fights. Vanessa would take her frustrations out on him.”
The insider went on to claim that Vanessa pushed him into taking the part of pirate Captain Jack Sparrow, which went on to become one of his most successful and celebrated roles to date.
The source added: “Vanessa started to feel like she'd sacrificed her career for his.
“Nothing Johnny did was ever good enough for Vanessa. When he was working, she wasn't happy. And when he wasn't working, he was called a slob for not doing enough for the
kids and her family.”
Despite splitting, the couple have said that they will continue to be devoted parents to their two children, 13-year-old Lily-Rose and 10-year-old Jack.
