The superstar recently married girlfriend of five years Jessica Biel, but unfortunately his granddad was too sick to make the trip to Italy to see them tie the knot in their £4million wedding gala.
But the sweet 31-year-old wanted to make sure his family members didn’t miss out on the most important part of the ceremony, and so organised a slice of his wedding cake to be flown 5,000 miles to his grandparents.
It might seem a bit extreme to fly a piece of almond and coconut cake half way round the world, but JT was said to be distraught that his ailing granddad couldn’t be there.
His grandmother Sadie Bomar lifted the lid on Justin’s thoughtful gesture and also let slip how pleased she is that Jessica’s now officially part of the family. Sadie told The Mirror: “I couldn’t go to the wedding. Justin was heartbroken but I couldn’t leave my husband Bill, who is ill in hospital. "I’m so sorry I had to miss it but I talked to Justin and Jessie, and they understood that I couldn’t leave Papa. "So Justin said he was making me an album of photos and sending some cake. “They called me on the day and I congratulated them and told Justin ‘thank you for giving me this beautiful new grand-daughter’.” Justin’s grandmother also cheekily revealed some touching details about the Italian wedding ceremony, including what song he chose to serenade his new bride with. She said: "Justin sang for her at the wedding - it was (God Must Have Spent) A Little More Time on You. "It was a shame it wasn’t in America but they had more privacy in Italy, where they are now enjoying a holiday. “They had a beautiful day. Jessica’s such a beautiful girl. I just love her. They are coming here real soon and will show me the pictures.” The newlyweds had rented a stunning resort for the ceremony and lavished their eighty guests with dinner parties, fireworks, performers and bike rides for the weekend. A source close to Justin admitted the caring singer felt that sending cake and photos was the least he could do for his grandparents after they had to miss out on all the fun. The insider explained: “Justin and Jessica had really wanted Sadie and Bill to share their big day. Alas, it wasn’t to be but at least they’ll have souvenirs of the big day.” |
