Kate Middleton wedding dress creator reveals Duchess' latest hobbyA woman who helped make Kate Middleton's gorgeous wedding dress has revealed that the royal has a keen interest in needlework.
Sophie told Marie Claire: "Kate showed a real interest in embroidery, which made it extra special."
Sophie also revealed that there was huge mystery around their work on the beautiful lace gown, which was designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. She added: "At the time we didn’t know which designer we were working for. We worked on the lace panels in great secrecy.
"It wasn't until the day of the wedding that we learnt it was a Sarah Burton creation." Kate's much-admired wedding dress is said to have netted the Royal Family a whopping £10 million after it was put on display at Buckingham Palace last year. An incredible 626,000 members of the public went to see the designer gown during its 73 days on show. Not only could they see the dress, but also 30-year-old Kate's wedding day earrings, shoes, cake and even the tiara she borrowed from the Queen. Director of the Royal Collection, Jonathan Marsdon, told the Evening Standard: "Unprecedented numbers came to see the duchess’s wedding dress, as the centrepiece of a special display celebrating the role of British design." |
