Former child star Macaulay Culkin denies heroin addictionAn American tabloid shockingly alleged yesterday that Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin was hooked on heroin and has a “$6000-a-month drug habit”.
But the former child actor’s representatives have strongly denied this is the case and have slammed the claims with a strongly worded denial.
The article alleged that MaCaulay has turned his Manhattan apartment into a drug den where he shoots up heroin and takes oxycodone - a highly addictive painkiller also known as hillbilly heroin. Macaulay was pictured back in February looking startlingly thin and emaciated, which first sparked allegations of serious drug use and it was reported that he weighed only 104lbs. Michelle Bega, a spokeswoman for the 31-year-old, has said that the National Enquirer story is not only “ridiculously fictitious” but “'destructive and insulting”. Macaulay’s publicist told MailOnline: “The report in the National Enquirer that Macaulay Culkin is addicted to heroin and assorted hallucinogenics is not only categorically without merit, but it is also impossibly and ridiculously fictitious.” The Enquirer alleged that the actor’s drug use intensified roughly 18 months ago, following his split from long term girlfriend Mila Kunis, who's now dating her former co-star Ashton Kutcher. The “close friend” that spoke to the tabloid claims that Macaulay has already had a brush with death after taking too much. He said: “Mac suffered a near overdose, and needed help. Fortunately he didn't need to call 911 and the near-OD was kept quiet among his pals. But Mac got very sick. “Macaulay Culkin is hooked on drugs and it's killing him.” Macaulay is best known for his role as cheeky Kevin McCallister in the Home Alone films and he also starred in Uncle Buck, My Girl and Richie Rich. |
