One Direction to split? Niall Horan announces band's plans to take a breakOne Direction have revealed plans to take a break from life in a band.But it certainly won't be for good, as the boys are taking inspiration from Gary Barlow and co. - they want to return years later with a bigger and better album than ever before.
Niall Horan, 19, said: “We want to be like Take That or Gary Barlow - take 10 years out and then come back.”
Niall and band mates Harry Styles, 18, Louis Tomlinson, 20, plus Liam Payne and Zayn Malik, both 19, want to quit at the top of their game to leave their fans wanting more.
Take That - Gary, 41, and Howard Donald, 44, Jason Orange, 42, and Mark Owen, 40 - split in 1996 after they released three albums in four years.
Much to the delight of their fans, they reformed in 2005 to release three number one albums and take their music on sell-out tours.
Niall's shock announcement for 1D's future plans came on the same day the group's new single, Little Things, got its first UK airplay. The track was written by Ed Sheeran and has a much more Indie feel to the their former high-tempo pop songs. The Little Things lyric video has already had close to 3 million views on YouTube and has been trending on Twitter. It's the second song off One Direction's upcoming album, Take Me Home, which is released next month. Harry tweeted yesterday: "So good to see your comments on 'Little Things' we're so happy that you like it. Can't wait for you to hear the rest of the album .xx." Understandably, the lads' fans are devastated by news they plan to take a temporary split - even though it's unlikely to be for a few years yet. One wrote: "If one direction have a 10 years break..and split, that's my life over. And that's bad because I'm only 15 years old." Another tweeted: "#MyWorstFear One Direction split up.. :'(." |
