Pippa Middleton book flop: Celebrate is slashed to half pricePippa Middleton's party planning book has been reduced to half price on shopping website Amazon - less than a month after its release.Celebrate: A Year Of British Festivities For Families And Friends was widely panned upon its release at the end of October - and now it's been reduced to £12 from £25 after it dropped to 189th on the bestseller list. Awkward.
Pippa, 29, was reportedly offered a £400,000 book advance from publishers Penguin for her 417-page bible, which was predicted to be a Christmas bestseller. Celebrate is packed with tips on how to throw the best parties for various occasions and is described by Amazon as a "fully illustrated and beautifully designed book packed with recipes, crafts and inspirational ideas." But Pippa has been criticised for stating the obvious - telling her readers to play pass the parcel to entertain children and stating that "turkeys are perfect for feeding larger gatherings".
One reviewer blasted: "You would think, with the amount of PR and media interest in the author of this book, that she might have written her book carefully, or perhaps even taken some expert advice. Seemingly, not so.
"For reasons best known to Miss Middleton, she has travelled the globe, shamelessly promoting an unbelievable pile of rubbish. The book is uninspiring, verging on insulting."
Pippa - who shot to fame in her figure-hugging bridesmaid dress at sister Kate Middleton's wedding to Prince William in April last year - was also accused of using her royal connections to make money from the publication.
"One day I might be able to make sense of this. In the meantime, it's fair to say that it has its upside and its downside." She continues: "I certainly have opportunities many can only dream of - but in most ways I'm a typical girl in her 20s trying to forge a career and represent herself in what can sometimes seem rather strange circumstances. "I am by nature an optimist so I tend to concentrate on the advantages." She adds: "I know many of you will pick up the book out of nothing more than curiosity. "I can assure you that it feels even stranger to me than it probably does to you to have seen so much written about me when I have done so little to paint a picture of myself." |
