Professor Green has a “Pretty Woman” moment in upmarket audio shopEveryone remembers the scene in Pretty Woman when Julia Roberts' character goes shopping on Rodeo Drive and is snubbed by a saleswoman in an upmarket shop.
And now Hackney-born rapper Professor Green has claimed he's been through a similar experience, complaining on Twitter about his visit to posh audio shop Bang & Olufsen.
In recent years, the 28-year-old has become one of the UK's most high profile musicians, but it appears that a shop assistant in Ealing didn’t realise who he was at the time.
Instead of the five star treatment he's used to, Professor Green has claimed that he was completely ignored by staff, which he assumed was down to his tattoos and general appearance. The furious Read All About it star vented on Twitter: “Bang & Olufsen Ealing shouldn't be so dismissive of people with tattoos, not even a 'hello' or 'is there anything I can help you with. “The gimp working in there won't be getting commission off of me that's for sure.” Professor Green - real name Stephen Manderson - then joked: “I feel like I'm in pretty woman... I feel like Julia Roberts.” The rapper, who's currently dating Made In Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh, has a number of tattoos on his arms. He also has a very visible neck ink that reads “Lucky”, which covers a large stab wound from when he was attacked in an East London club with a broken bottle. In response to his Twitter rant, the store's owner Stuart Melville denied Professor Green’s claims on the social networking site, saying that the whole thing had simply been a big misunderstanding. The Bang & Olfsen manager wrote: “@professorgreen I said hi guys as soon as you walked in the door, sorry if you didn't hear me?! “@professorgreen we like to give people the chance to look around instead of pouncing on them,nothing worse than that! Sorry once again! Stu.” The store manager appeared to be doing damage control as Professor Green has built up quite a big following on Twitter. The Remedy rapper boasts almost 1.5 million followers - so his complaints definitely didn’t go unnoticed! |
