X Factor 2012: Tulisa hits back after Gary Barlow's "fag ash breath" commentThe X Factor live shows usually guarantee a delicious slice of drama - and this weekend was no different.
Things kicked off between judges Gary Barlow and Tulisa Contostavlos during the panel's critique of the Take That singer's act, Christopher Maloney.
Tulisa asked Gary after Christopher's performance of Died In Your Arms Tonight on Saturday evening: "Gary, how many of these eighties classics are you going to let him keep destroying?"
Instead of answering the question, Gary, 41, shockingly hit back with a rather out of character remark.
He responded: "I don't know what's offended me more - what you said or the fag ash breath!"
Gary's comment was met with gasps from the audience, before feisty Tulisa hit back: "Just a note for Gary - lay off the red wine because I can really smell that as well." Later, on ITV2's Xtra Factor, Gary admitted he'd had a "little sip" of wine in his dressing room and went on to say sorry to Tulisa.
The following evening, on Sunday's results show, Tulisa walked on to the stage and flashed her arm. Not only did she show off her "The Female Boss" tattoo, but she also smiled as she displayed a nicotine patch. And as Tulisa and Gary took their seats with fellow judges Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh, host Dermot O'Leary attempted to make light of the situation. He said: "You're all looking and, more importantly, smelling absolutely beautiful." Sunday night's drama continued when Tulisa's girl Jade Ellis and Louis' group Union J found themselves in the bottom two and singing for survival. And it was mum-of-one Jade who was sent home - despite being an early favourite of the competition. While Tulisa and Louis decided to save their own acts, Nicole and Gary threw Union J a lifeline, commenting on the ambition and commitment in their eyes. |
