Twitter trolls drive One Direction's Zayn Malik off TwitterZayn Malik has deleted his Twitter account.
The One Direction star - who had several million followers - has quit the social networking site because of the abuse he'd been receiving when he logged on.
His final tweet read: "The reason I don't tweet as much as I use to, is because I'm sick of all the useless opinions and hate that I get daily goodbye twitter :)." He added: "My fans that have something nice to say can tweet me on the one direction account, :) x."
Zayn, 19, isn't the first member of One Direction to get frustrated with Twitter. Harry Styles, 18, was upset earlier this year when his then girlfriend, 32-year-old Caroline Flack, received death threats from their fans.
A string of other women he's been linked to have quit the site as a result of abuse they'd received.
Liam Payne, 18, was forced to stick up for his girlfriend Danielle Peazer when she was also abused on the site, while 20-year-old Louis Tomlinson has often had to defend things he's said or done.
Zayn's girlfriend Perrie Edwards also quit Twitter earlier this year - Little Mix all got rid of their separate accounts and instead now use a joint page. It's not all fun and games as a young popstar, after all. |
