Bless them, but Grannies and Grandads, Uncles and Aunties aren't always the best conversationalists in the world! If, after having chatted politely to the host on the merits of goose over turkey, you still find yourself stifling yawns of boredom, go find the children. Time will fly by.
Our Advice:
Try explaining how Father Christmas delivers his presents in houses without chimneys, or come armed with a book of Christmas stories, which you can produce from the bottom of your bag at an opportune moment. You could always commandeer the older children's video games and start a tournament, make the most of it and let tiny ones show off their new toys and the teens tell you what's hot and what's not... useful info to take back to the grown-ups!
