Breatharian Diet

What it’s all about:

This diet is followed by a group of people, called Breatharians, who believe that they can sustain their bodies on “prana,” a Sanskrit word meaning “life air” or “life force.” As such, this diet proposes that followers can subsist on the power of light and air, without eating food or drinking water.

Celebrity followers:

Actress Michelle Pfieffer has admitted that she was a member of a cult that followed the Breatharian diet.

Why to avoid it:

Where to begin. First of all, despite the beliefs of Breatharians, it is not scientifically accurate at all that humans can exist on the power of air alone. Instead, humans require food and water to survive.

Several people across the world who have tried the Breatharian diet have died from its effects. This diet is most certainly not advisable.
