Women in UK are embarrassed about shoe size, study shows
According to their study, asking a lady’s shoe size is almost as rude as inquiring about her age, if not more. The results of the study showed that women’s feet size has increased by a size-and-a-half since the past 20 years. Women are quick to assume that a larger shoe size means a masculine foot. The study also concluded that a shocking 82% of women who have size 8 or 9 foot, feel that it’s a constant source of embarrassment for them. Incidentally, size 9 is also the average male size in UK. Debenhams also claimed that most of the size 9 feet shoes for women were bought online, probably to spare the embarrassment of having to ask for a bigger size in front of customers. The study shows that about two thirds of women with larger-than-average foot size hated to ask sales assistants for help inside shoe stores. They also confessed that the worst thing about their size was shopping for shoes. Another third claimed that they were uncomfortable taking their shoes off inside stores. |
