You could be forgiven for feeling somewhat unexcited by the news that yet another model has hooked up with a high street fashion chain to launch a collection, but Yasmin Le Bon's debut for Wallis challenges any preconceptions. The 20 piece collection is a stunning mixture of vintage references and homage to her own Iranian roots especially in the accompanying jewellery range.
Yasmin has created "'a wardrobe I would want for myself" which is why there isn't the slightest hint of disposable fashion here - these are pieces which will span across seasons and could even become staples. There are several investment buys at accessible prices within the range including dramatic floor-sweeping silk dresses, cashmere and silk knitted dresses and velvet shawl collar jackets. The collection draws on themes which echo through - tie-neck blouses are reflected in dresses as well and the 'vintage' dress (which is a sheer short-sleeved affair) also has a blouse version.
The jewellery range has a Byzanite influence and incorporates some understated neck pieces as well as bold collar-creations and quite elaborate bejewelled bangles. As Yasmin herself has said: "I find that I'm playing with jewellery a lot more now than ever. Now that we have all sorts of incredible costume jewellery, we can easily update or change the whole look and feel of an outfit. It's the easiest way to express yourself and your mood without making a huge commitment in time, effort or finance."
