LFW debut for Masha Ma

Elsewhere in the more familiar surroundings of the Freemason’s Hall where the Vauxhall Fashion Scout in held, it was a LFW debut for Masha Ma.

A veritable newbie compared to the other old timers of the Sunday schedule, Chinese designer Masha showed a modernist collection of crisp cream tailoring, tucked and folded to create origami shapes.

Videogame style music gave the impression we were headed to the future, a sense compounded when you saw a Fifth Element style bandage detail. It seemed to be a meeting of minds at Michael van der Ham who also manipulates his fabrics into curious shapes.

Tucks and twists met Cubist, tessellated panels with pops of citrus colour. Taking place in the new Topshop venue, which happens to be the old Eurostar platform at Waterloo, the architectural, dramatic space only served to complement his collection.
