Some call it the highlight of the fashion calendar; Paris Fashion Week is a celebration of all things stylish and sophisticated but that doesn't stop the French design houses and internetional designers that show at Paris from having a little fun. At PFW you understand why French women have such a reputation for elegance and style.
Paris Fashion Week kicked off under a cloud in February 2011, as disgraced designer John Galliano was sacked by Dior for anti-semitic behaviour. Scandal aside the collections were toned down and sober. Pattern perked up catwalk but colours were kept to a minimum.
Spring/summer saw the French embrace the maxi. Draping was everywhere and fashion lost the structured severity of recent years. Colours were kept in and around the pastel zone with dusky pinks and antique greens giving a shabby chic feel to the proceedings.
