John Lewis announces exclusive collaboration with Joe Casely-Hayford
John Lewis has announced its first designer collaboration for men. The high street chain is launching a menswear range designed by Joe Casely-Hayford, best known for his acclaimed and iconic U2 wardrobes for the albums Achtung Baby and Zooropa.
Since then Joe Casley-Hayford has also dressed Take That, Oasis and The Clash and showcased catwalk collections in Paris, London and Tokyo. In 2007 he was awarded an OBE for services to the fashion industry.
He’s now the creative Director of ‘Casely-Hayford’, which is something of a family business. Joe’s son, Charlie Casley-Hayford, has followed in his father’s footsteps and together they design and produce luxury high-end menswear defined by Savile Row tailoring with an edgy modern sportswear silhouette.
The collection is expected in stores for the spring summer 2010 season.
“I think we found the perfect fit with Joe." said Peter Ruis, Buying Director at John Lewis, "His capsule wardrobe represents the very best in authentic British design, which mirrors John Lewis’ standing on the British high street. Our first designer collaboration for men will combine the quality expected from our brand, with the flair synonymous with the Joe Casely- Hayford signature.”
“Joe Casely-Hayford for John Lewis will introduce my designs to a much broader audience.” Said Joe Casely-Hayford, “I am excited by this unique collaboration, which will create a new design statement and celebrate the best of British in a modern context. There’s no better brand to do this with than John Lewis.”
