Historically, human beings have always been keen on adornment so why should this year be any different? Adopt a magpie mindset and seek out the glimmering glitz to bring summer to your wardrobe. John Rocha added bejewelled vestments and bibs to his floaty chiffon dresses, adding drama to girlish little black dresses whereas Jaeger London paired ethnic beaded necklaces with futuristic laser prints. The neck is generally a failsafe option to embellish just as Cleopatra did before us, but why not attempt a giant corsage on your lapel or delicate lace on your waist in the style of haute couture master Christian Lacroix? Best of all, embellishment can be artful additions to existing pieces rather than a new purchase, meaning your credit card can stay safely tucked away.
