Vivienne Westwood wants a fashion rebellion
Fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood is calling for something of a fashion rebellion, saying that most of us are way to conformist when it comes to trend setting.
The outlandish dresser and all round national treasure showcased her latest catwalk collection yesterday, proving that she is still a fan of eccentric British tweed and tartan. With influences of Granny Chic and Boy George her collection featured models wearing silk scarves and bright tights with tweed shorts.
Speaking of modern day fashion she said: "We are so conformist, nobody is thinking. We are all sucking up stuff, we have been trained to be consumers and we are consuming far too much."
Her comments are a little contradictory, especially as she sells her own RTW collection. She added: "People have never looked so ugly as they do today, regarding their dress."
Harsh right? We're not so sure we agree - our street style albums from London Fashion Week prove that there is plenty of variety - and none of our street stylistas are 'ugly' - nope, they're all gorgeous and beautifully fashion.
The 70-year-old isn't know for being much of a wallflower, and was making all sorts of statements in her collection, with T-shirts promoting Peace and not War.
Now there's something we can agree on.
