Carbohydrates
are your body's main source of energy and the best source
of energy. When digested, they turn into glucose. |

| |
Simple
sugars: These break down easily into glucose and
are rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream.
- Drinks (Did you know there are 24 cubes of sugar in
a litre of Coke?!)
- Sweets
- Fruit
Complex carbohydrates: These break down into
glucose more slowly and are released into the bloodstream
over a longer period of time.
- Rice
- Cereals
- Semolina and couscous
- Potatoes
- Pasta
- Bread |

Complex
crabohydrates are much better than simple sugars, which
makes you gain weight because they stimulate the secretion
of insulin. Ordinary sugar, for example, brings you
very little other than calories and contains very little
vitamins and minerals too. Avoid fizzy drinks, sweetened
fruit juice, sweets, etc. |
