Dealing with dandruff

Flakes of dandruff are little fragments of the epidermis present in your hair and scalp. The scalp, like your skin, has a cycle and renews itself every 21 days, but when the process accelerates the cycle lasts only 5 to 7 days. The cells are not mature enough to eliminate themselves normally, and this is what causes the little white flakes known as dandruff which appear in the hair, get onto your clothes and hairbrush.

 

We don’t know the reasons why dandruff develops in some people; however, we know that certain factors make it worse. Excess sebum, over-washing your hair, stress, poor diet, exposure to cold, fatigue and certain shampoo can all accelerate the epidermal cycle and lead to flaking.

To fight dandruff you need to use anti-dandruff shampoo and lotion once or twice a week. These block the rapid growth of cells.

Tip - Apply your lotion before going to sleep and leave it in all night. And remember to wash and disinfect your brushes and combs to prevent reinfection.

- Rinse your hair with vinegar (two tablespoons of cider vinegar and 2 drops of thyme essential oil). This mix will make your hair shine and purify your scalp.

- Stimulate the blood circulation of the scalp and eliminate dandruff by massaging your head with a handful of fine sea salt (the type you use in the kitchen) twice a week, washing normally afterwards.
