The summer months are all about open toes. Never out of fashion, you can get them out every summer. Here's our guide to what to match them with.
Flat sandals
Wear with little floaty skirts or short shorts in the daytime for a casual look, with bright accessories like a pretty long necklace, bright bangles or a big costume ring. Wear beaded, glittery or fancy sandals with a shirt dress, satin or light cotton numbers.
High heeled sandals
These call for straight cut trousers, especially stiletto heels. Wide or square heels look great with flared, high-waisted or hippy style trousers.
For the evening:
For chic glam, opt for a fitted, straight dress, high heels and a clutch. Femme fatale guaranteed. If you're hitting the dancefloor, a flared baby doll mini dress is comfortable and easy to boogie in, and shows off high heels perfectly. Don't go OTT with mini skirts and high heels or you won't look as sexy as you meant to.
Accessories. Keep it low key. High heels make you look ultra-feminine, especially teamed with colourful dresses. Wear a simple wrap and jewellery. And bring some insoles, Party Feet or blister plasters with you!
Colours and shapes
Gold or black sandals go with almost everything. Bright colours such as electric blue, apple green or ruby red need to match with the rest of your clothes, and don't add any extra colour to your outfit. For example, blue sandals look good with straight cut jeans and a white or pastel top. If your sandals have sexy ankle straps, show them off with a short skirt (it's a shame to hide them under trousers).
In winter
Just because temperatures drop doesn't mean your sandals have to be relegated to the back of your wardrobe! Sandals with tights, even very thick ones, are very in. Think simple: orange tights with luminous green sandals are obviously out, but black tights and black strappy sandals make a change from the same old winter boots!
