Silver is the most widely used precious metal for jewellery. Beautiful, malleable, more affordable than gold and easier to wear, silver is a staple. What can you team it with to look fabulous on any occasion?
Basics
Silver is elegant, brightening and suits all shades of colouring! You can wear it with almost anything without looking bling, unlike gold. One rule: never wear gold and silver together unless you're wearing a charm bracelet or other special piece.
During the day
For discreet chic: Match silver with black or cold tones like grey and off white.
For full-on chic: Choose bright colours that silver enhances: raspberry, red, turquoise, plum or yellow (but not orange). Silver also goes with silver, so match your jewellery with a silver brooch, heels, bag and silver and blue make-up.
At night
Silver can be glam and sophisticated, especially with precious stones like diamonds, rubies and pearls. Think drop earrings, sexy hanging pendants or bracelets. Patent silver and white gold coloured silver
Silver is not like gold: it ages with time and tarnishes on contact with air, especially in wet climes. But aged silver with a nice sheen can give a fab vintage boho look and look better than flashy white gold with many outfits. Take care of your silver so that it stays shiny for your party outfits. Wash it with a soft brush and a little soapy water.
