Femme fatale curves and a killler décolleté drive men wild, so why hide your best assets? Dress up voluptuous curves in light, chic clothes without straying into vulgarity. Here are our style tips for flattering big busts.

Style icons who make the most of their assets
These sexy, radiant actresses are modern icons of femininty and designers just love them. These ladies all wear their curves with pride, so take your tips for assuming and displaying killer cleavage from...

Sophia Loren
Sophia is the most emblematic of beautiful Italian actresses. At 60, she's still sexy and showed off her impressive cleavage in the latest edition of the Pirelli calendar. Sophia has the body of a Mediterannean godess par excellence.
Kelly Brook
That Billy Zane knows he's onto a good thing! Former glamour model Kelly now shows off her enviable figure in classy Fifties retro outfits and looks a true star. Kelly has the bikini body all women want, and she's used her expertise to design her own swimwear range for New Look.
Drew Barrymore
Drew isn't often seen in revealing tops: her style is more vintage tees,  jeans and trainers. But she pulls out all the stops at the red-carpet events and dazzles in plunging designer dresses. And she can poke fun at herself too: she managed to carry off an infamous 'wardrobe malfuction' at the Golden Globes (when it was very apparent she was braless under her see-through top) just by laughing at herself.
Scarlett Johansson
The newest glamour icon of them all is only in her twenties but she knows everything there is to know about dressing up her cleavage. Scarlett assumes her curves, and her retro, Forties Hollywood glam style never looks trashy. No surprises, then, that Louis Vuitton wanted her for their ad campaigns.

Good fabrics to wear:
quality, light, flowing fabrics with a fine finish: jersey, light cotton, flannel and cashmere. Invest in some good basics that hug your figure but aren't too tight.

Good colours
Use these three colour types to flatter your figure. The best are dark, slimming colours:
Neutral: grey and taupe.
Deep: burgundy and dark green.
New blacks: deep purple, navy and anthracite grey.

Can you get away with prints?
Definitely, as long as they're not too loud.

Cheat a bit with a minimiser bra: these do wonders for your confidence if you're insecure about the size of your mammaries. They're available in sizes D and up. Minimisers surround and clench in big breasts without crushing them. Don't buy them in highly-elasticated fabric, though: it soon tends to stretch.

Conceal your cleavage in...
  • Strapless dresses
Strapless dresses nip your body's contours in without hugging too much. Dresses that cover your cleavage well but give them shape are ideal, especially knee-length ones worn with a full coat.
  • Jersey dresses
There's a jersey dress to suit every shape, and anyone can wear them. Remember that fine stitching lets your body breathe. Don't oversize, or you'll end up looking bigger than you are. Go for a pretty décolleté dress with a round shape and a little silk collar. Taupe grey or yummy chocolate shades work well. Team with boots and an oversized bag.
  • White blouses
Wear unbuttoned with the sleeves rolled up. Get a slightly bigger size if you have a bit of a tummy, and knot it at the waist if you're wearing a skirt. Tuck into high-waisted trousers and wear with heels to add height.
Highlight your cleavage in...
  • Wrap dresses
Light V-necked wrap dresses with plunging necklines in muslin or crêpe silk lighten the figure well and look gorgeous but unfussy with a ribbon belt. If you have bingo wings, go for short (or long) puffy sleeves rather than sleeveless dresses.
  • Trousers and jumpsuit shorts
Go for fabrics like satin that won't look like a sack, in grey or deep green so that you don't look sporty when you're not meaning to! Accessorise with a vintage bag with a little chain or charm attached, or layer shiny beads to highlight your cleavage. Shorts or trousers? Shorts if you have wide hips and skinny-leg trousers if you have thin legs.
  • High-waisted pencil skirts
Forget preconceived ideas! Pencil skirts can flatter all body shapes and they're great at sculpting bottoms! Wear with a belt if you have a thin waist and go short if you have good legs. Put your feminine assets on display.
Dare to bare lots of cleavage in...
  • Satin dresses
Sensual satin frocks are the epitome of Italian glamour. Like Dolce&Gabbana's iconic satin dresses, go for ones with underwiring to support and enhance your cleavage. Fine straps also thin out the upper body. Black satin is romantic and has a 'lingerie' feel. Knee-length suits all. Heels are a must for evening wear.
  • Silk shirts
Silk shirts are light and glide over your skin, letting a sexy hint of bra and cleavage show through. For nights out, try a black silk or poplin shirt with a frilly false front, or disco chic with an embroidered gilet or little black jacket.
  • Gilets
A simple gilet is one of your wardrobe staples. Cleavage-baring gilets suit your body shape down to the ground. Don't wear much underneath: a cami top with lace edging is enough. Gilets go really well with flared skirts or jeans.
