 - Male masturbation

Masturbation provides physical relief, aids blood circulation and reduces the risk of premature ejaculation. Not only is it healthy, it provides a lot of enjoyment too! Here's everything you need to know.

Myths about masturbation
Our ancestors used to say that masturbation makes you deaf, blind and reduces penis size, in order to stop men from doing it. They also thought that masturbation reduced the male capacity to reproduce, because they believed sperm supply was limited. All these myths are completely unfounded: 90% of men masturbate regularly and don't suffer any ill-effects from it!

A physical need, or just for kicks?
Don't start panicking if you walk in on him having an intimate moment with himself in the shower: it doesn't mean he's sexually frustrated. Men masturbate to bring themselves to orgasm and to free sexual tension, but that's not all there is to it. They do have a real physical need for it. Know your biology? The male sex organs produce and store sperm, so after a few days the body wants to get rid of it to make space for the 'fresh' sperm.

Ejaculation
The way men masturbate has a big impact on their sex life. If they masturbate too quickly, they often have problems with premature ejaculation. No point in rushing things, then. From adolescence onwards, men should take their time discovering their bodies so that they can control their ejaculations better. This improves their capacity to orgasm and their sexual performance.

Lubricant
Use saliva, gel, liquid moisturiser or other lubricants on his penis when you masturbate him, so that the sensation feels as much like penetration as possible for him. If he's been circumcised, masturbation without lube can cause irritation.

Technique
Place your hand around his erect penis, holding it firmly but not too tightly. Stimulate his penis, working downwards in a back-and-forth motion, until you find the rhythm and pressure that give him the best sensations. You can also stimulate his testicles at the same time: some parts are very sensitive. If you feel he's about to come, accelerate for a quick finish or slow down to prolong the moment. The penis becomes very sensitive after ejaculation, so stop once he's there.
