We coily, curly, and kinky-haired women have so many gorgeous updo styles to choose from these days when it comes to braids and twists. These styles might seem hard to achieve without the help of a professional but trust me, as a woman who's been rockin' all kinds of braids for years now, all you need are bobby pins, an Internet connection, and a bit of patience to get these polished looks at home.

Marley braids, Senegalese twists, box braids, micros, kinky twists. You truly feel like a whole new woman after getting your hair braided or twisted.

And once you get home from the six-hour salon session (and after you pop a few Nurofen to stop your scalp from throbbing in pain), all you want to do is start playing with your hair. The high bun is cute - Solange loved the style when she had her ankle-length box braids - but why not branch out and try something more creative?

Sooo I'm assuming that you know how to braid already. If you don't, call your mumma, sister, or best friend, and learn - stat! That's a hair skill every woman should know once she hits her twenties.

After you've learned how to braid, check out these five YouTube tutorials, and pick a new updo!
