Hair Extensions - Hair Extensions | All you need to know about hair extensions
Hair Extensions
Hair extensions have become increasingly popular in the UK. Hair extentions add volume and length to your natural hair and allow you to create gorgeous new styles.

If you want celebrity style locks then hair extensions are the way forward.

Before you get started it's important to decide what type of hair extensions you want:

Clip-in hair extensions

These can be simply clipped under your natural hair at home everyday and will last six months or more with proper care.

Hand-tied wefts and normal wefts are available - the difference is in the quality of the workmanship. Go for hand-tied if you want something that exactly blends with your own hair and fits your head.
  • Off the shelf - normal weft
"Off the shelf" hair extensions can be bought in high street stores or online from stores such as BuyHair.co.uk or HairTrade.com.

They come in a set range of colors. Often these are made from synthetic or low grade hair which limits the styling possibilities and won't look very natural. On the plus side they're a lot cheaper.
  • Salon made - hand-tied weft
A specialist such as Tatiana Hair Extensions will match your exact shade of hair (even highlights) and make your extensions in the salon. They will also take measurements of your head to make it custom fit.

These are made from high quality  hair and you can even match the texture and type of hair you have. They're pricer but the effect is a much more natural look.

Pre-bonded hair extensions

These are usually applied in a salon - you can choose the quality of the hair depending on budget. The extensions will need to be removed and replaced usually after a couple of months.
  • Micro-ring
Micro-ring extensions are attached to your real hair with tiny metal clips. These have to be applied and removed in a salon but are less damaging to your hair than glue bonds.
  • Nail Tip / U-Tip
These are attached to tiny segements of your own hair using High Quality Keratin Hair Extension Glue and a special heated applicator.
