Networking isn't always as easy as it sounds, especially if you haven't done it before. So if you're new to networks, where do you start? Here's SIAN MEADES’ guide to effectively making contacts to further your career.


With more companies making cutbacks and redundancies you need to make yourself more employable and flexible – it's not just about turning up on time anymore. The best way to improve your job prospects is to start networking. Hopefully your bosses will want to keep you around, but if they do let you go, you'll need the contacts to find a new job.
