10 reasons to support International Women's Day
This Saturday is International Women's Day and if you don't know much about it already, believe us, you need to.
Every year, on the 8th March governments, charities, organisations and the public celebrate the achievements of women and campaign for their equality.
This might not mean much to you yet; we've got the vote, the right to work, to learn and take contraception, so why do we need an entire day devoted to women? Well there's a reason for International Women's Day, in fact there's quite a lot of them actually.
If you're in the UK it's assumed that we've got a pretty good deal, and really in relation to a lot of other women across the world we have. But women on the whole, experience life in a very different way to men - on lots of levels.
Whether that's financially, within our careers, or through experiencing sexist attitudes we can almost guarantee that somewhere along the line each and every woman will have felt the uneasy reality of inequality.
It's so serious that even The UN says: "Nowhere in the world can women claim to have all the same rights and opportunities as men."
But now we're in 2014 we've got it sorted right? Time to find out the truth of the situation...
