Dark circles under the eyes make you look knackered and stand out like a sore thumb, undershadowing your baby blues and making your skin look pale in comparison. They're often hereditary, but stress and fatigue make them worse. They first appear in the corners of your eyes and then spread out in circles underneath them.
Dark circles are caused by a change in the tone of the lymphatic canals, and vein circulation problems. When the pigments in the blood don't flow properly in your vessels, they get trapped in the conjunctive tissue and turn the skin a different colour, which is why you get yellows, purples and lovely dark shades underneath your eyes.
To get rid of dark circles, go for special anti-inflammatory products with toning agents for the tiny veins underneath your eyes. In extreme cases, use specially-created make-up to disguise them.
